1. 10 MINUTE CHORE BOX:

Rather than spending hours organizing, and doing it allyourself, create a 10 minute Chore Box for yourself--andone for each family member, if applicable.Each person's box would contain specific chores or tasksthat need to be completed. The chores are written on slipsof paper, and take a maximum of 10 minutes each toaccomplish.You can gear the tasks towards the person's abilities (e.g.while older kids can help out with vacuuming, a 3 year oldmay instead be responsible for putting away his/her toys.)Each day, as a chore is completed, that slip of paper isplaced in a holding envelope until the Chore Box is empty.Then, when empty, the boxes are refilled, and the systemstarts over again. This also works well at the office!

2. 10 MINUTE PICK-UP:

Control the chaos. Schedule a consistent, '10 minutePick-up' each night. Set a timer to sound an alarm in 10minutes.While the clock is ticking, all family members areresponsible for clearing out and putting away theirbelongings from the main family area.When the timer sounds, you're all done. 1. Limit the number of paper checks you write. Keeping track of a large number of checks can often be quite difficult, if you can get things to be automatically drafted out of your checking account, or if you can pay for everyday purchases in cash, this will definitely reduce the amount of checks you have to take care of.
2. Limit your number of paper bills, if you can get your bills online or via email, it's probably a good idea, this way they won't get lost in the mail or lost in your home somewhere. They'll be right on your computer, which will be much easier to track.
3. Use an "expando" to keep your bills in order. They're a great way to store files without having to have an expensive file cabinet. They fold out like an accordion and are really cheap. This way you'll have a place where all of your bills are, and that way they won't get lost.
4. Regularly clean off your desk. If you don't take care of whatever's lying on your desk, it will pile up real quickly. Take a couple of hours every Saturday and take care of whatever's on your desk.
5. Throw junk mail away. For some reason credit card offers and other financial offers just sit on people's desk unopened...just shred them and don't worry about them.
6. Keep the important stuff. There is some paperwork you just need to keep, for example, if you ever have a bad debt that is settled, you need to keep that paper for a life time, because it will come back to haunt you and you need to prove that you paid the bill. Organize these important documents and keep them in a file cabinet or an expando.
7. Get your spouse onboard. Taking care of the finances in an orderly fashion is ten times easier if your spouse is helping and onboard. If everyone's pitching in, the task will be much less arduous
8. Set a time. Pick out some time every week just to give your financial life a once over, it doesn't have to be more than an hour a week, just take care of any bills, make sure there aren't any charges on your checking account or credit card that aren't yours, and balance the budget. Doing a little bit every week will save you a lot of time in the long run.

1. Your home office is a great place to start the spring clearning process. Removing all the clutter from your desk top and re-organizing your files will help enhance your overall business.

2. Organize that medicine cabinet. Getting rid of all your old/out-of-date cosmetics, lotions, perfumes, and medications will allow room for new items! Purchase new items that are suitable for the spring and store them in an an organized fashion.

3. Store all your winter clothes in plastic bins with labels. Be sure to donate any clothes you no longer want or need. Also, when swithching season wardrobes, be sure to try on your spring clothes to ensure they still fit and if you still need or want them. Again, anything you don't want, donate to Goodwill.

A kitchen fridge virtually covered with soccer schedules and invitations. A hall table with stacks of unopened mail. A desk with a pile of bills growing distressingly high. If these images describe your home, it's time to do something to impose order on the chaos. Our do-it-yourself solution? An organization board that will get your family running like a well-oiled machine in no time.

You will need:

- Galvanized metal from a home-supply store with holes punched in two corners

- Foam core of the same dimensions

- Felt and felt letters

- Lightweight fabric

- Paper

- Craft glue

- Spray adhesive

- Magnetic clips

- Packing tape

Here's how:

1. Attach the foam core to the metal board with packing tape.

2. Punch holes to match those in the metal.

3. Spray the other side of the metal with adhesive, then press down fabric, leaving 5cm hanging over on all sides.

4. Fold and tape to the foam core.

5. Cut felt into rectangles for storage pockets and decorate with felt letters.

6. Attach to the board with craft glue.

7. Glue days-of-the-week labels and attach magnetic clips.
